Why Saturday, November 7 Is the Day to Be on North Federal Highway in Boca

  • October 29, 2026

Sanborn Square sits at 72 North Federal Highway. Historic Town Hall, home of the Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum, sits across the street at 71 North Federal Highway. Mizner Park is a short walk north, with the Boca Raton Museum of Art and the amphitheater at 590 Plaza Real. From Thursday, November 5 through Wednesday, November 11, the schedules at all of these places overlap.

Saturday, November 7 is where they all meet. A free art show fills the square, the History Museum across the street has free admission, and Tequila Fest takes over the amphitheater that evening. Sunday adds a deadline, because a Boca Museum of Art exhibition closes that day. Thursday works as a warm-up and Wednesday as the closer.

Thursday, November 5: The Evening the Museum Stays Open Late

The City of Boca Raton's Night Market comes back to Sanborn Square on Thursday, November 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. It's the second of three fall dates, after October 1 and before a holiday-themed market on December 10. According to the city's announcement, each market brings vendors selling baked goods and sweets, local artists and makers, and music through the evening. Mayor Andy Thomson called the series "one of the best ways to experience everything that makes Boca Raton special."

The useful detail is Thursday's museum schedule. The Boca Raton Museum of Art stays open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays, and closes at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. On November 5, that leaves a two-hour overlap with the market. You can see the galleries first, then walk south to Sanborn Square while the vendors are still set up.

That matters for the weekend because one exhibition is almost out of time. "Frédéric Bruly Bouabré: Selections from the 404 Art Collection" has been up since May 20 and closes Sunday, November 8. Thursday night is the calmest chance left to see it.

Saturday, November 7: Everything Lands on One Block

Saturday has the most going on, and the order is fairly simple to plan. Here's how the day runs from morning to night:

  1. 10 a.m., Sanborn Square. The Hot Works Boca Raton Fine Art Show opens and runs until 5 p.m. Hot Works lists free admission, juried artists, food, live entertainment, and a youth art competition.
  2. Across the street, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum is free on the first Saturday of every month through Free Fun Saturdays, sponsored by JM Family Enterprises. November 7 is that first Saturday. Regular admission is $12 for adults and $8 for seniors and youth.
  3. Mizner Park, until 5 p.m. The Boca Museum of Art keeps its regular Saturday hours on the second-to-last day of the Bouabré show.
  4. Evening, Mizner Park Amphitheater. The city calendar lists Tequila Fest on November 7. VIP entry starts at 4 p.m. and general admission runs from 5 to 8 p.m.

The History Museum is the stop people tend to skip, and it's the one that fits best with an art show. Its temporary exhibition, "Life's a Beach," opened September 9 and runs through February 27, 2027. The permanent galleries cover the Boca Raton Timeline, the IBM Exhibit, World War II in Boca Raton, Addison Mizner, and the Boca Raton Pioneer Era. After an hour of contemporary artists' booths in the square, the Mizner gallery puts the city's own building style next to them, and on November 7 it costs nothing.

Watch the timing. The History Museum closes at 4 p.m., an hour before the art show ends and an hour before the Art Museum closes. So go across the street first, while the free admission is still on.

Sunday, November 8: The Deadline Day

Sunday keeps two of Saturday's three daytime options and drops one. The art show runs a shorter day, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The History Museum is closed on Sundays. The Boca Museum of Art is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and November 8 is the last day of the Bouabré exhibition.

The museum's other two shows have more time. "Exploring Jess: Beat Generation Visionary" runs through December 6, 2026, and "Drawing with Scissors: Collage from the Collection" runs through January 18, 2027. Both are collage-based. Jess works with vintage images and advertising, and "Drawing with Scissors" includes work built from torn magazine pages. After a weekend of art-show booths, they make a good follow-up later in the season. They can wait. Bouabré can't.

Admission is $16 for adults and $12 for seniors 65 and older. High school students under 18 and children under 15 get in free, and so do members. If you plan to come back for Jess before December 6 and again for the collage show in winter, compare the cost of three visits with the price of a membership.

The Week at a Glance

Here are the week's four event days on one grid. The Sanborn Square column covers both sides of North Federal Highway. The Mizner Park column covers the museum and the amphitheater.

Wednesday, November 11: The Amphitheater Closes Out the Week

The week ends where Saturday night did, at Mizner Park Amphitheater. Red, White & Boca: A Veterans Day Celebration runs from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11. It's free and open to veterans, their families, and community members of all ages, and no registration is needed.

The city's event announcement lists three parts. A Veterans Marketplace will feature local service organizations and veteran-owned small businesses. A classic car show on the east lawn gives awards for Best of Show, Best Veteran-Owned, and other categories, with presentations at 6:45 p.m. The Coastman Chorus and Belladiva will perform. If you mainly want to see the cars, arrive in time for the awards, since they come near the end of the three hours.

Veterans Day is a holiday, and the History Museum closes on major holidays. If you want to pair Wednesday's event with a museum visit, check each museum's holiday hours before you go.

Getting Downtown Without Circling for Parking

All of this sits within a few blocks, so the real planning question is how to get downtown and where to leave the car.

BocaConnect. The city's on-demand shuttle runs through the Circuit app. The city says Night Market rides are free on November 5. On other days, the city's published fare rules make trips that start and end in the red zone free. Trips that involve the blue zone cost $2 per rider plus $1 for each additional rider, capped at $5 one way. Circuit's Boca Raton page lists hours of 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday. Saturday's 2 a.m. finish covers the end of Tequila Fest with plenty of time to spare.

Mizner Park garages. Mizner Park lists free parking in Garages A, B, C, and D. The Art Museum says Garage A, at the northwest corner of Mizner Park just south of the museum, is the closest. Metered street parking is also available in Mizner Park.

Town Hall lot. The History Museum offers free parking behind the building. If Saturday starts at the History Museum and continues at the art show across the street, the car can stay in one place until you head north to Mizner Park.

One Stop Up the Street

If the art show leaves you thinking about your own walls, there's one more stop a few blocks up Federal Highway. abc carpet & home has opened a two-floor showroom at 601 North Federal Highway with rugs, furniture, décor, vintage jewelry, and design specialists, according to the property owner's announcement from October 2. Going from juried booths in Sanborn Square to a design showroom on the same road works as a Sunday afternoon after the art show packs up at 4 p.m.

The next date on the square is already set. The Night Market's holiday-themed edition comes back on Thursday, December 10.
